UC Berkeley Chinese Student Association

The Culture Show

The annual Culture Show is a twenty year old tradition, primarily organized by the Berkeley Chinese Student Association. An entire year of planning, scriptwriting, and rehearsing culminates in this showcase of Chinese culture, which also includes student group and community performances.

The Story

Follow Chinese Chen as he enters into the American culture, meeting a wide range of people on Sproul from HUBBA to CSA. Lost in this new environment, Chinese Chen quickly adopts a new American name: Gaga Chen - after his favorite singer Lady Gaga. Berkeley has lots of offer Gaga Chen from his friendships with the students of HUBBA to the Delta's frat parties, but along the way he meets great new friends such as Mona and Charlie who teaches him all about American culture. Come out to the Chinese Student Association's 22nd Annual Culture Show: "My American Bad Romance" to find out about Gaga Chen's adventures at Berkeley!

The Performances

The culture show is not possible without the cooperation and participation of performance groups both on campus and in the larger Bay Area. This year, "My American Bad Romance" features performances by U.C. Berkeley's Danceworx, TruElement, Urhu Decal, Fei Tian Dancers, and Cal Wushu.
